Abdul Hameed, better known as A. Hameed, is considered to be one of the prominent fiction writers in Urdu. Frances Hodgson Burnett was born in England in 1849. She was only three years old when her father died. Consequently, her family faced financial issues and moved to America in 1865. It was there to support her family that Burnett started publishing her early works in magazines. This sharpened her writing skills and she wrote her first novel That Lass O Lorrie s in 1877. There was no stopping her then. She wrote many fictional and dramatic works of which most enduring are her two children novels A Little Princess and The Secret Garden. Burnett died in 1924.

About the Author
Anna Sewell (1820-1878) was a British writer who had a strong love for horses and became quite sensitive to their nature and behavior. After a childhood injury, she was confined to her house as an invalid and got around largely by horse-drawn carriages. Though, she had difficulty in walking, she could drive a carriage. She spent her last years writing the children’s classic Black Beauty (1877), a fictional autobiography of a gentle, highbred horse. She died just five months after her book was published.

Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoyevsky was born in Moscow on November 11, 1821. Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin Shelley was born on August 30, 1797, in London, England, to Mary Wollstonecraft, the famous feminist, and her husband William Godwin, the philosopher and political writer. She published her first poem Mounseer Nongtongpaw in 1807 through her father s company. She married poet Percy Shelley in 1816 and two years later published her first novel Frankenstein.
