Abdul Hameed, better known as A. Hameed, is considered to be one of the prominent fiction writers in Urdu. He was born at Amritsar on August 25, 1928 where he received his early education in a local school. After the Partition of India, he acquired the degree of F. A. in Pakistan as a private candidate and joined Radio Pakistan in the capacity of staff artist. There, he wrote radio features and plays. In 1980, he resigned and migrated to USA and joined the Voice of America as a Producer. He did not, however like the conditions at his new location and returned to Pakistan to work as a freelance writer till his last day. Hameed is the author of over two hundred short stories, plays, and novels.

Oscar Wilde (1854-1900) was an Irish writer, playwright, poet and essayist. He spent most of his life in London where he was a most famous writer and socialite in the late Victorian Age. He also played a leading role in the Aesthetic and Decadent Movements of the nineteenth century. He wrote for both adults and children. His work exudes an incomparable biting wit. Today, he is best remembered for his novel The Picture of Dorian Gray, his plays including The Importance of Being Earnest and his short stories.

H. G. Wells (Herbert George Wells) was born in Kent, England on 21 September 1866. Often called the Father of Science Fiction, a distinction which he shares with Jules Verne and Hugo Gerns back Wells was the inventor of the Plausible Impossible in science fiction, a technique of portraying incredible as credible. He was a prolific writer who not only wrote sci-fi but also explored other themes in writing. His other works include social realistic fiction and books on history and politics. He authored over hundred books of which many remain extremely popular today. He died in London on 13 August 1946.
